CEO Wins Ando Momofuku Award for Innovative Food Development

Received the Invention and Discovery Encouragement Award at the 2023 Ando Momofuku Awards, presented by the Shokusokai .
The award recognizes the winning theme: "The Development of NinjaFoods to Create New Forms of Food with Konjac, and the Commercialization of a 'Super-Chewy' Nut Bar."

KAKOGAWA, HYOGO, JAPAN – Sydecas Inc. (Headquarters: Kakogawa, Hyogo; hereafter "the Company") is pleased to announce that its CEO, Masahiro Yoridama, has received the "Invention and Discovery Encouragement Award" at the 28th Ando Momofuku Awards. The Ando Momofuku Award is presented by the Shokusokai (The Society for the Creation and Development of New Foods), an organization chaired by former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

 

■ Winning Theme: "Development of NinjaFoods to Create New Food Forms with Konjac, and the Commercialization of a 'Super-Chewy' Nut Bar"
The "Invention and Discovery Encouragement Award," received by our CEO, Mr. Yoridama, is an award that targets young researchers and developers at small and medium-sized enterprises.

He was recognized for developing "NinjaPaste," a new food-binding material made from the traditional Japanese ingredient konjac, and for commercializing the "Super-Chewy Nut Bar."

 

■ A Comment from Our CEO, Masahiro Yoridama
I am filled with gratitude and joy to receive such a distinguished honor as the "Ando Momofuku Award for Invention and Discovery."

Several years ago, I visited the Cup Noodles Museum in Ikeda, Osaka. There, I learned the story of Mr. Momofuku Ando—a distinguished alumnus of my own alma mater, Ritsumeikan University—who developed Chicken Ramen in a small shed he built in his backyard. As a Japanese entrepreneur in the food-tech space, this story gave me hope that even if we are just starting our research and development in a small kitchen now, we can one day aim for the world stage.

A few years have passed since then, and while we are still a small startup, I am incredibly proud that our technology and efforts, based on the traditional Japanese food konjac, have been recognized in this way.

We are committed to continuing our hard work so that we can take flight from Japan and make our mark on the world.

2023年度 食創会「安藤百福賞・発明発見奨励賞」。受賞テーマは「蒟蒻であたらしい食のカタチをつくるNinjaFoods開発と超咀嚼ナッツバー商品化」

株式会社Sydecas(兵庫県加古川市、以下、当社)代表取締役:寄玉昌宏は、「食創会 ~新しい食品の創造・開発を奨める会~」(会長:小泉 純一郎、元内閣総理大臣)が選定する「第28回 安藤百福賞」において、「発明発見奨励賞」を受賞しました。

 

■受賞テーマ:「蒟蒻であたらしい食のカタチをつくるNinjaFoods開発と超咀嚼ナッツバー商品化」

今回、当社代表・寄玉が受賞したのは、若手研究者や中小企業の開発者を対象とした「発明発見奨励賞」です。日本の伝統素材である蒟蒻を原料にした新規食品結着素材「NinjaPaste」を開発し「超咀嚼ナッツバー」を商品化したことを評価いただきました。

この度は「安藤百福賞・発明発見奨励賞」という栄えある賞を賜り、感謝と嬉しさでいっぱいです。

数年前、大阪府池田市のカップヌードルミュージアムを訪れたとき、立命館大学の大先輩でもある安藤百福氏が「自宅の裏庭に小屋を建ててチキンラーメンを研究開発した」というエピソードを知り、フードテックに携わる日本の起業家として「今は小さなキッチンで研究開発していても、いつか世界を目指せるはず」と希望を抱きました。

それから数年、私たちはまだまだ小さなスタートアップですが、それでも日本の伝統的加工食品である蒟蒻をベースにした私たちの技術と取り組みが、こうして評価を受けたことを、誇らしく思います。

日本から世界に羽ばたけるよう、これからも一層努力を積み重ねていく所存です。
